The Book of the Universe
From atoms to humans, and cells to galaxies, there is a fine order and vertiginous beauty in the art of the universe. The human body is made up of a hundred trillion cells, and there are approximately a hundred million proteins in every cell. The odds of a protein forming by chance is as low as one in a zillion.
Bacteria, worms and soil gather around plants with a common purpose: to exchange nutrients and provide support in their recurrent symbiotic relationship. These creatures which lack mind and consciousness undoubtedly leave the mind in wonder and admiration with their synchronous activities, revealing the creations of The Greatest Creator, The Maker of Order, The Shaper of Beauty. Our curtained eyes may not be able to see Him, but they cannot ignore the evidence presented in every living thing around us.
From the largest kingdoms to the smallest entity of atoms, there is a precise mathematical balance and dimension in the universe which highlights Infinite Wisdom. How else can the uniqueness of each individual's fingerprint and eye structure be explained? Making each person's face and fingerprint different to all previous, current, and prospective humans requires the presence of the Possessor of All Strength who knows and does not forget or confuse the trillions of human faces and finger structures that exist.
When one examines the Earth carefully, even the trees and leaves communicate a message in their own way. I feel His presence most when His works are on the grandest scale spread before me- on the top of a cliff when I am closer to the clouds and there is nothing to block my vision of their quick, majestic movement. There is something insanely humbling about being on a clifftop; you feel the power of the wind that threatens to push you off the edge, you feel just how small you are when objects of similar size- like sheep and deer- look like mere ants down below. I felt His Might most during a climb at the Peak District recently with a close friend when a hail storm started midway and left us with no choice but to sit on the rocky edge and wait for it to pass. I felt His Light and Forgiveness most when the grey clouds above swapped positions with their compassionate white counterparts, allowing sunlight to pass through and lighting up the remainder of our path to the top.
The more I walk the Earth, the more I admire its beauty and the smaller I feel. The Universe is undoubtedly a book to be read, and its Author is the most creative of authors.
